About me
Hello, I’m Kathryn Athill; hypnobirthing practitioner, early years teacher and mother to two young boys in South East London.
I first discovered hypnobirthing when I became pregnant with my second son and soon became obsessed! It all just made sense. The course itself was great; easily accessible and involved my husband in the preparations enabling us to feel informed in our choices and connected with our baby. Fast forward 4 months and despite my dreams of a home birth quickly going out the window I gave birth to George; on the labour ward, in control and feeling incredibly empowered.
Postnatally, I recovered very quickly both physically and emotionally and I put this down to hypnobirthing and the calm and in control birth I was able to achieve through practicing it.
I feel so impassioned about hypnobirthing and the benefits it has to a woman both pre and postnatally, so much so that I have since trained as a hypnobirthing teacher with KGHypnobirthing. The KGHypnobirthing course is accredited by the Royal College of Midwives.
What is hypnobirthing and how can it help you?
Hypnobirthing provides a practical and logical approach to birth. It will enable you and your birth partner to release any fears you may have surrounding birth and replace these fears with a calm confidence. The course I offer is made up of different elements including practical information, deep relaxation scripts and "tools" such as breathing and visualisations to help you relax; that, when put together, and practiced, can make a huge difference to your pregnancy and birth.
Benefits to you, your birth partner and your baby.
You; hypnobirthing will enable you to work with your body and embrace the fact that it is naturally designed to give birth. It will leave you feeling empowered and prepared to birth your baby. Hypnobirthing will give you the tools to remain calm during your labour and, if a woman is calm and relaxed, as nature intended, the muscles in the uterus will work more effectively.
Your birth partner; hypnobirthing will enable your birth partner to feel incredibly involved in the run up to and actual birth of your baby. A birth partner can use the tools they have learnt during this course to make the mother feel safe and secure, which will in turn raise her oxytocin levels during labour. A birth partner who is well informed and knows their importance and role is a massive asset to the room.
Your baby; hypnobirthing will benefit your baby long before it enters the world. This course will connect you as a couple through shared learning and practice which will in turn, create a strong connection for parents to their baby. The calmer the mother is throughout pregnancy and labour, the calmer she is likely to be in recovery leading to baby feeling calm and settled.
Course details and what you will learn
Hypnobirthing can be started at any point during pregnancy but, to get the most out of it, I would suggest you begin from the 20th week of your pregnancy. The earlier you start, the more time you will have to practice the important techniques of hypnobirthing.
I offer classes in Camberwell and Kensington. However, if this is not convenient, I am very happy to travel anywhere within London to teach you from the comfort of your own home.
I offer 1:1 teaching for you and your birth partner. The course I offer is usually around 10 hours and can be taught over two days or over four evenings.
The course is a complete antenatal training course and combines theoretical and practical approaches. It is designed to help you relax, understand, and take control of your own childbirth experience. It will provide you with the knowledge and tools to help you make the right birth decisions for you and your baby.
What will I learn?
· The logic of hypnobirthing
· Understanding how the mind and body work together
· Breathing exercises
· Deep relaxations
· Visualisations
· Comforting massage

I charge £370 for the course. This includes The Hypnobirthing Book by Katharine Graves, the Colour and Calmness MP3 download, a course hand out, and ongoing support. Full payment is taken at the time you book the course.
I feel very strongly about making hypnobirthing as accessible as possible and am happy to offer flexible course options that best suit you. Please contact me to discuss your options.
As a KGHypnobirthing teacher, I am the signpost. It is you that makes the journey. I regard it as my responsibility to give you all the information and support I possibly can to help you. This combined with the practice you do throughout pregnancy will make a huge difference to the way you approach your birth.
I look forward to hearing from you.
